The name of the Thieves blend originates from a historical tale about a group of thieves who, during the 1720 plague, robbed the dying and deceased. When arrested, these thieves revealed that they were perfumers who used essential oils to protect themselves from the plague.
Mary Young shared that Gary was captivated by this story and spent extensive hours researching in the British Museum and library archives. His efforts led to the creation of the Thieves blend.
Today, numerous studies support the benefits of this blend. Clove acts as a protector; Cinnamon as a purifier; Eucalyptus as an oxygenator; Rosemary as a balancer; and Lemon uplifts with its invigorating citrus fragrance. The brilliance lies in the combination, Garyās secret from which we all benefit.
In 1998, the Thieves blend was tested at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, and the scientific documentation was published.
THIEVESĀ® essential oil is a powerful mix of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary essential oils, offering a rich, spicy aroma that fills any space.
A wide range of products uses the Thieves blend, including fluoride-free toothpaste, mouthwash, hand sanitizer, soap, dishwashing soap, and household cleaner.
The household cleaner is a concentrate that can be diluted. You can reuse old cleaning bottles or purchase glass spray bottles online to make various dilutions for cleaning around the house:
For windows, kitchen tabletops, tables, and general light degreasing:
Mix 1 cap of Thieves cleaner with 2 to 3 cups of water (approximately 500 to 700ml).
For heavy degreasing and stains (e.g., stovetops after frying, wash basins, bathrooms):
Mix 1 cap of Thieves cleaner with 1 cup of water (about 250ml).
A small bottle (426ml) of Thieves household cleaner contains about 60 to 65 capfuls, allowing you to make approximately 60 bottles of 500ml cleaner. In Singapore, organic household cleaners of this size cost between $6 to $10. The Thieves household cleaner concentrate is available for SGD38, which means each 500ml bottle of cleaner costs between $0.63 to $1.26. Thus, using the Thieves household cleaner can save you money compared to other cleaners.
